Lead by a stingy defense and strong rushing attack that ate up time and yards, Marcus beat Flower Mound to win the Mound Showdown 32-14 Thursday night Oct. 23 at Marauder Stadium.
The victory is the Marauders’ fourth in a row over its crosstown rival. Marcus (4-3, 2-3) now leads the all-time series 15-10. T
The game was rescheduled from Friday night because of expected inclement weather in Dallas-Fort Worth. Many school districts in the area made the same decision.

Without injured four-star junior quarterback Colton Nussmeier, Marcus was led by its rushing attack that racked up 367 yards. Senior Kade McKnight ran for 139 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries, Carter Francis had 89 yards on 17 rushes and Jameson Mayfield ran for 62 yards and a touchdown. Senior wideout Austin Allen ran for 38 yards and a touchdown as well. Defensively, Easton Mitchell recorded a fumble recovery and an interception.
Marcus built a 22-0 halftime lead on scoring drives of 13, 10 and 7 plays. Flower Mound (2-6, 1-4) scored a touchdown to open the second half, but Marcus answered with a Jake Torgesen to Luke Susko 4-yard touchdown pass on its next possession. Torgesen, a senior filling for Nussmeier, was 5-9 passing for 28 yards.
Marcus will travel to Little Elm next Friday night.
