The Marcus DECA team fared well competing in the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, on April 24-28; this is a major competition where DECA members worldwide compete in various career and leadership development events and showcase their business skills.
Juniors Hansika Kantheti, Tanisha Makam and Shriya Sreeju placed first to earn the title International Champions in the financial literacy event. This team is Marcus’ first International Champion.
Satya Kalala, junior, earned two medallions for earning top role play scores in the automotive services marketing event.
Seniors Rishi Hanumandlu, for service, and Shashank Chathapuram, for product, received medallions for one of the top exam scores in the integrated marketing campaign event.
Advised by Mrs. Kendra Day, DECA had several major achievements this school year.
Veda Ganesan, junior, served as the president for DECA District 12.
Sreeju and Samuel Skotnikov, junior, were voted by their peers to serve as District 12 Vice Presidents next school year.
Daniel Skotnikov, sophomore, and Samuel Skotnikov earned second place in the Zurn Elkay Sustainable Water Drinking Challenge and received $1000 and a donation to Marcus for five of the newest Elkay filtered bottle fillers and an extra set of filters.
Ganesan also received $1000 for placing second in the IE University Policy Dilemma Simulation Challenge.
Third place finishers Varnika Kambam, Nivrit Kotturi and Sreehitha Bompalli received $2000 in the Adobe Food Truck Challenge.
