New club starts for car enthusiasts

Three students have started a new community for high school car lovers.

Senior Trevor Foust, senior Bill Hall, and senior Ryan Collins started TBR Racing to meet and talk to others in the area who share their same passion. The boy’s first initials was the inspiration of the group’s name. Over half of the members come from Marcus but the group has expanded and reached out to a few students from Lewisville High School as well.

“We started the club because of our obsession with fixing and personalizing our cars and our friends who were interested in the same things as us,” Collins said.

In the first two months that the club has existed, number of participants in the weekly gatherings has reached between 20-30.

“We try every single weekend to meet. Usually we start in one spot and then drive around while, hang out,and maybe go get something to eat,” Hall said.

The boys’ fascination with cars began when they each received their first vehicle Hall’s being his dad’s pick up truck and Collins’ being an Infiniti.

“When I got my license I started driving my dad’s truck around but wasn’t satisfied,” Hall said. “I bought my truck this past summer and it was the coolest feeling. It was my truck that I could do anything I wanted to because it was mine, not my dad’s, mine. I haven’t stopped working on it for about nine months now.”

The club is more than talking about and looking at cars, they also fix the cars and add their own personalized touches, pouring upwards of three thousands of dollars into their passion to make their cars faster, stronger, and over all something they are proud to drive.

“I think Bill’s truck is one of the coolest cars that has shown up,” Collins said. “It’s definitely the fastest.”

TBR Racing is more than just a fun hangout for the boys, it is a major part of their life and it is something they love to do and sharing the experience with others who feel the same way.

“It’s what the club is about,” Hall said. ” If you’re having trouble with your car you can call up your buddy and lend him some tools and be by his side to help him. It’s a community.”
