Celebrities stand up to sexual assault at the Golden Globes

Celebrities+stand+up+to+sexual+assault+at+the+Golden+Globes

The 2018 Golden Globes featured actors and musicians who were all different and talented, yet they all had one thing in common. All the stars except for three wore black and a pin with the phrase “Time’s Up.” The pin represents the awareness of women being sexually assaulted as well as inequality in the workplace. This correlated with the “Me Too” movement that is spreading all over America. Reese Witherspoon was the main person who organized almost everything for the “Times Up” theme. Reese has done multiple speeches and contributed to the issue.

Oprah Winfrey gave an empowering speech about sexual harassment and unequal opportunities in the workplace because of race or gender. Her speech empowered everyone in the room that night as they all stood for a standing ovation.

Many of the stars who won awards and gave speeches contributed to the “Times Up” theme and seemed to support the topic. It wasn’t just about women equality for all, it was also about race equality to some stars as well.
