With the start of a new school year comes new additions to the school. Whether it is a cafe, a freshmen campus, or receiving iPads, there is always new ways to keep the students pumped for the year.
This year, however, they make the students proud of being Marauders. The new and shining “M” in the Commons catches every eye that passes and brings a new, bright look to the school. For principal Gary Shafferman, the sign is a way to keep our students excited.
“To me it obviously just means the spirit and pride of the school,” Shafferman said. “To the students, I would hope that they also think that.”
Like the principal hoped, many students are excited about the sign. Senior Mario Covarribias believes that it brings a sharp, new look to the school.
“It shows the school becoming more modern with technology,” Covarribias said.
However some students still feel indifferent towards it, and some don’t like it at all. For junior Taylor Miller, the “M” wasn’t necessary to have, yet she thinks it is a nice addition .
“I feel like you could have spent the money fixing the walls, and the athletic hall, doing more things to the school,” Miller said.
This sign, however, is not a new idea. This year just happened to be the right time for it to be revealed. According to principal Shafferman, it has been planned to be made and put up for a while now.
“I’ve been wanting to have it for several years, I just couldn’t figure out how to pay for it,” Shafferman said.
